if asked by a true metalhead, i tell them a well thought out and curated list by subgenre or a lesser known band that is the flavour of my week that they will likely also know and appreciate
if asked by a normie metalhead, i'll probably say the more popular ones like sleep token, bad omens, bmth, plot in you
normie non metalheads will get my drummer dead pan resting face
