Had someone at my meetup last night ask if I was worried about all the “spam” filling the mempool, making it impossible for people to run nodes, and 2 TB not being enough very soon.
I opened the mempool and showed him how empty it was. He had no idea. Told him we’re still roughly a decade away from a 2 TB blockchain at the current pace.
When I started opening Lightning channels in 2021, I was regularly paying 30–60 sats/vB. Today it’s less than 1 sat/vB.
Sometimes it helps to just look at what’s actually happening and verify for yourself.
