To be clear, I think that Lepore and other liberal commentators misidentify what is actually a kind of techno-fascism, i.e.the "Formalism" of Curtis Yarvin et. al., with "libertarianism", which is a gross categorical error.
In contrast, the Reason libertarians are stuck in a 2010's mode of obsequious, unquestioning awe of all this "free stuff" we get from Silicon Valley, and are blind to the very real ways that the contemporary Tech industry has turned into a massive data harvesting operation whose purpose is primarily "extraction" rather than innovation.
