I think the Terminator movies were the better outcome. I am not a doomer, but if I was, I would notice that we are not very far with robots, skeletons, etc., but AI is much smarter than 80% of humans. The rogue AI wouldn't run in robot bodies, if it wants to get rid of us, it will spread CRISPR-based gene drive(*) that kills us in a week. If it can totally outsmart us, I think there are faster ways to deal with us, although it would not look so good on TV.

(Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles is my favourite TV show - I saw it twice, my average is usually that I don't finish a season with most series, rewatching is very rare in my life)
