So I have this trait where I like to try and hack old computing stuff laying around into something usable. Kinda like recycling working machines into something useful.
So I wanted to get as close to a "console" experience as I could except with what I already owned. I had an old Microsoft surface pro and decided I'd give it a spin, mainly bc it has windows installed already and while it's w10, it was gonna get me to testing other things faster.
So basically, I have steam loaded in it and since the machine itself isn't too beefy, I have some basics installed that are good for couch coop. For bigger games, or aaa titles, I also have playnite redirect directly to an already authenticated login of GeForcenow.
So I already owned two Xbox controllers. And things connected to my OLED now basically gives me an experience to play the vast majority of my games that support controller. And for titles needing more horsepower, the game streaming via GeForcenow is good enough and, inexpensive (I have a founders account for 5 dollars a month).
A few things I have to solve :
1. Registry changes for absolutely zero prompted login. I want to connect the BT Xbox controller and go directly to playnite
2. Some controller bugs I noticed - disconnect or just funky behavior. Not often but still exists
3. Get a 1Tb microSD for emulator ROM storage
4. (Might...miiiight) hook up backup game files to backup to my nas.
5. Turn off windows game overlay. Easy I just haven't done it. This makes the Xbox button kinda fuck up the steam big picture mode or playnite launcher.
