Really impressive to see people repent on Nostr in realtime. I was there once too! Keep posting. Keep telling people the truth. Remember that Satoshi said himself said of ledger privacy: “If a solution was found, a much better, easier, more convenient implementation of Bitcoin would be possible.”
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=770.msg8637#msg8637Right now, Core is aligned with Saylor and Blackrock, who openly say this feature that Satoshi himself advocated for cannot be done because ETFs, regulators, and treasury holders don’t like it. We can’t have real private digital cash because those aligned with the state don’t like it. Until these people are made into bagholders by strong negative price action, there is no future in Bitcoin. We can do a reconquista and revitalize Bitcoin later, after the price goes low enough for long enough for Saylor to kill himself.
I probably owe you more than “you were right.” You were making this argument to me years before I was ready to seriously consider it.
I defended Bitcoin hard. I thought CoinJoin, Lightning and the broader privacy tools available around Bitcoin were sufficient answers to the privacy problem. Eventually I had to admit that privacy you have to deliberately construct, maintain and avoid accidentally undoing isn't the same thing as private, fungible digital cash by default.
So take the victory lap. You earned this one. You were right, I was wrong, and it took me a while to get there.
