Corporate Bitcoin treasuries added only about 5,900 BTC in 2026, less than 7% of the 89,000 BTC companies bought in July 2025. Glassnode says the average cost basis of existing corporate treasury holdings is $80,500, roughly 6% above spot, leaving the group collectively underwater. Prices have failed twice this year to reclaim that level, which now represents overhead supply rather than reliable support.
Strategy, the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, made its latest purchase at the end of August, adding 4,603 BTC; its 845,050 BTC holdings have a $75,412 cost basis. Glassnode also reports that US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $462.7 million in net outflows over the five trading days through September 11, while Bitcoin’s realized cap began falling on September 15. The data points to stalled fresh demand and a market waiting for buyers to return.
