I started learning when budgets were tight (which was most of the time) and outsourcing can really start adding up pretty quickly. Graphic design lead to photography and then video editing. At first I found it to be overwhelming and an inconvenience, something else to keep me away from writing music, but slowly I learned to enjoy the process.

Much like music, there's a certain sense of accomplishment and freedom in creating a new shirt design, logo or coverart. And after a while I began to feel comfortable in my abilities, as limited as they are. What helped me was changing my mindset, and looking a design the same as writing music: enjoy the process and just keep creating.
