I find it to interesting that so many people seem to have a hard time with how Christianity works.
Jesus came and died for sinners, when they accept him as Lord in their lives, and confess with their mouths, they become Christians. They are no longer sinners.
It's like someone who asks a single person to get married, when they say "I do" and get married, they are no longer a single person, even if they can still sometimes act as if they're single. Their identity has changed.
"Sinner saved by grace" as so many Christians quote somehow gets all the focus on the sinner part, as if that's still their identity simply because they still have the ability to sin, but if you actually read the bible, Paul doesn't address ANY of his letters "to the sinners of..." he addresses them "to the SAINTS of..." Even when he is correcting their sinful behaviors.
I hope this helps you, because freedom comes from knowing your true identity, and thinking you're still a sinner will keep you stuck in committing sin, whereas if you truly believe that you are a Saint (like God says you are, and how he sees you!) You might commit a sin once in a while, but you catch it, repent, and do your best to not do it again, because it is no longer your nature to commit sin, it is against your nature, and doesn't feel good anymore.
According to the bible, in order to go to the Father, we need to be perfect, and that's why there was a need for Jesus, because the yearly and daily sacrifices weren't enough. but after Jesus, now all we need to do is go to Him, ask for forgiveness and then all our sins are REMOVED, "as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us." They're no longer a part of our story in the eyes of the Father, and thus we can go directly to Him, and have fellowship!
Fellowship being the true nature of Christianity.
