GNU/翠星石 (nprofile…s24j) That day it rained for the first time in 3 weeks, so all the rubber and oil on the asphalt becomes extremely slippery before rain finally takes it away. Often called a "first flush".
I wasn't fully aware of the weather conditions and in combination with driving normally (but not cautiously) into this specific corner that also has significant off-camber (pictured) the rear wheels lost traction and I slid into a tree. You can see by the way that my front wheels are parked that I tried countersteering but it didn't work.
Another thing worth noting is that I wasn't the first car that lost traction in this corner that morning. A bystander said they saw another driver also slide and hit the curb a few minutes before I arrived.
