Take home messages from this fire: 1- Fire weather is everything. Bering Sea storm is preventing this start from going anywhere. Plus decreasing daylight hours damps the fire down at night. 2- Defensible space around structures can minimize the chance of a house fire from escaping to the wildland and protects community. Also I don’t envy the jumpers camping out in the rain.
