I am not sure corporate capture is a realistic possibility, given how much competition there is in the model space. What worries me is more that new learners won't learn as well because they'll start using LLMs too soon. I don't think deskilling is a universal side effect, but I do think that LLMs do interfere in the learning process, and no student should use them.
