When certain non-denominational types see us Catholics always praying our rosary, going to Mass, visiting cemeteries, fasting, giving up certain pleasures, praying novenas, etc., they believe we are chasing a "works salvation."
In truth, we're begging for as a much grace as we can get, because we need it and don't take it for granted. It's all about God's mercy and grace.
Ask, and it shall be given to you. We can hang our hat on that.
