Washcloths, soaked in water, stashed in the fridge. When I was faced with a choice between running the a/c and buying groceries while living in Texas, that was my cooling skill. I’d put one on my chest as I went to sleep. When I got so hot I woke up, I’d get a fresh damp cloth out of the fridge to cool me down and go back to sleep.
