Important development and growing trend. Soundcloud have backtracked on their use of content for LLM training policy to now abandon that in favour of NOT using their content for LLMs. So many people ion their community rebelled, that it was unsustainable.
Duolingo have begun rehiring humans as they rapidly realised genAI/AI stats crunching was never going to achieve what even their 'low quality content' workers were achieving.
Klarna (payments system) have begun rehiring workers after similar disappointing experiences of using AI to replace their workforce for customer service amongst other things. Their own customers were sick of dealing with low quality standardised responses from chatbots.
A side observation is that many sponsored posts in socmed from AI companies (Microsoft, Google, Meta etc) have now removed the opportunity for people to comment on these posts. Anger and frustration is growing, in other words.
None of this is surprising. What is very surprising is that UK and other countries continue to champion 'AI' as the future of education and learning.
